KIDS

'Stand up straight,' said mom to Jude.
'Faster eat,' said mom to Nathan.
Do not eat tidbits so much
Do not say 'shit, shut up, stupid or other harsh words' to your brother coz mom does not like
Say 'thank you'
Say 'please'
Say 'sorry'
Bath and shampoo your hair
Sleep on time
Brush your teeth
Change your clothes
No chatting in beds
Tomorrow you can't wake up for school

If then we kids
Cause such a fuss,
Why does mom go on
Having us?

---

But after mom thought that mom is not perfect also...
Mom realized

Mom cried
Mom felt guilty
Mom LOVES YOU UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD
Even after mom die...remember that

Mom talks gently
Mom applies lotion for Jude
Mom messages Nathan
Mom cooks healthy food

Mom is brave, strong, moves on because of you
Mom tears every time seeing the miracle happens all the time when mom just says AMEN after PRAYERS...

Just wanna see you be independent
Mom will finish mom's duty

We go out and eat something nice
We cycle and explore Punggol Waterways until Sengkang and Tampines through Park Connector
Green, Clean and Fresh

Study well, mom never gets angry if you are fail
But in fact you are the best in your Chinese, English, Maths and Science

You are already success in your study
Keep positive words in your minds and hearts
We will have a better lives together...one day
God is our provider in every little things in our lives

To my both sons,

JUDE FAITH CHUA YOU DE

NATHAN HOPE CHUA YOU WANG

the apples of my eyes

the shadows on the sand

the reflection of our mischievous characters

we are inclined in arts

 happy moments together

we overcome any challenge circumstances together

 you like mom's lousy cooking

we cycle and explore new things

mom is proud of you in your band school

GEMBEL

Tidur di emperan bermantel belel
Terbuat dari kain flanel
Tidak menutupi udel
Yang diberikan Ariel...

Di tepi ada sesuatu tergantung yang dicantel
Radio kecil yang disetel
Sayup-sayup terdengar suara bukan mentel
Adele...

Mengendus anjing pudel
Bertali leher pastel
Karena si gembel
Makan apel...

Kujepret dengan tustel
si gembel mengomel
lalu ia melapor kepada intel

Foto kukirim pake excel
ke juri kompetisi panel
lewat email

Well...
aku di bel
oleh juri panel
katanya dia mau ngapel
padahal aku sedang ngepel

Si Juri panel
Giginya sompel
Ngomongnya cadel
Mukanya tompel
Kukunyah karamel
Sambil ngedumel

Yell...
Yell...
Yell...
fotoku menang dengan hadiah nobel

Eitssss...bukan karena juri panel
tapi karena otakku dobel

A LITTLE RECOLLECTION ABOUT MY CHILDHOOD-POETRY

Where were you born?

In a place called hospital at Jalan Kuda, Medan. I spent my childhood at Jalan Teuku Umar, Indonesia.

I remember the first school I went to was in a small half wooden and wire wall classroom with cement floor. Yes, it was a small classroom in the small town. It was very exciting really - the classroom keeping the sun off, and a female teacher teaching me. Very exciting and I was very happy there.

Do you remember the sorts of games you played as a child?

I remember one game, hopscotch, jumping on one foot from square to square, with any beads or items that you hold in your hand and throw it in one square. If you loose one round, your friend will take over the turn alternatively. The one who finish the game first will be the winner.

What did you think of Singapore when you first arrived?

I thought it was terrible. It was like living under an inverted bowl of grey. It was the opposite of living in my comfort zone. Every flat door is closed, every body is very individualistic, and every thing is fast moving pace. I had a culture shock.

After all the colors of Singapore...

Oh, now I am like one of Singaporeans, my flat door is closed, I am private in some ways, and I do things very fast also. Singapore is a unique vibrant city, one of the world's leading commercial hubs, with the fourth-biggest financial centre and one of the five busiest ports. It ranks high in international ranking of education, healthcare, government transparency, and economic competitiveness.

After all the colors of Indonesia...

Oh, the most place I vow that I miss and love my home country no matter what happen. Although the way I think is like the western culture, learn from how Singaporeans. However my heart is still the eastern culture. If orang bule would want to test me, my response is terse to the point of being defensive. Because di sana tempat lahir beta...

Can you remember writing your first poem?

It was when I had a crush with somebody whom I hardly remember in my childhood years and when I saw my genius brother compiled his poetry sheets to a book. I was challenged! And here I am now a blogger.
